Luton Town announced the recruitment of Towncent on the 12th. Side striker Towncent has signed an ultra-short contract with Luton Town until January next year.

Townsend has a career-high 264 appearances in the Premier League. In the English national team, he played 13 A matches and scored three goals. The 32-year-old Towncent, who hasn't had a team since playing for Everton, signed a contract with Luton Town to continue his Premier League career.

Towncent, a former Tottenham Youth, was a Tottenham player from 2008 to 2015, but he played in only 50 Premier League games in eight seasons wearing a Tottenham uniform. During his time at Tottenham, Towncent played on loan at as many as nine clubs, including MK Dons, Ipswich Town, Watford, Millwall, Leeds United, Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers.

Towncent moved from Tottenham to Newcastle United after the opening of the 2015-16 season. Towncent played Tottenham's side striker ahead of Son Heung-min, but did not play much for Tottenham. Towncent, who moved to Crystal Palace after a season with Newcastle, will continue his career at Luton Town via Everton.

Towncent, who signed an ultra-short contract with Luton Town, was assigned a number 30. Towncent said: "Luton Town is also my local team. I live 20 minutes away and have watched Luton Town get promoted through the playoffs. I never imagined I'd wear a Luton Town uniform. It is an honor to be able to play in the Premier League again," he said.

Luton Town, who signed Towncent, said: 'Towncent undoubtedly holds about the level of the Premier League. We are in a position to help each other. I hope Towncent can have a positive impact on the team,' he said, expressing expectations.

Luton Town, who have been promoted from the fifth division for the past decade, have been promoted to the Premier League after finishing third in the Championship (second division) last season. Luton Town is 17th in the Premier League this season with one win, one draw and six losses (four points).
